Today´s task is to write about your experience writing blogs.

I  hope  this activity has been a rewarding experience to all of you and also that you have been noticed that you are very creative people!!! We have been sharing our personal stories regarding to different topics and that has been awesome because I have never shared those thoughts and /or experiences with my students.

Free / Themed Post: What place would you like to visit?

Hello everybody!

How have you been doing! Hope you are well.

Today, we are going to write about a topic that  you already chose!

It is a very interesting topic because almost all of us are always thinking which place will be the perfect one to visit during vacation or /and  on a national holiday or just when you need to take time off your daily routine!

First, I must admit  that there are many places in my mind that I would like to visit.

One of them is the Patagonia. It is a sort of a dream destination.

I have heard that it is a natural wonderland where you can explore and discover outstanding views. There are plenty of awesome places that you can visit as well as you can do many outdoor activities (go trekking, hiking, navigate, horse riding, kayaking etc). Places like the French Valley, the Grey Glacier, Torres and the Cuernos peaks are stunnig.They are located in the Chilean Patagonia (as it is located at the southern end of South America, shared by Chile and Argentina) in the argentinian area you can visit El Calafate, El Chaltén, Fitz Roy and the Perito Moreno Glaciers. Apart from those famous landmarks you will see fauna including guanacos, flamingos, condors, foxes and pumas, and if you want to go on a kajaking trip you can do it with dolphins. This a magnet for wildlife –lovers!

I guess this may be a memorable experience ! So I hope I can visit this great and perfect place to enjoy which is at the bottom of the earth!

A SUBJECT YOU ENJOYED STUDYING THIS SEMESTER

Hello again, dear students. Is everything ok with this special end of a semester? I hope so. We are about to finish! so that is why today , the task is  to write about an important part of your career: SUBJECTS, how many subjects have you got this semester? What was your favourite one? A career-related website OR An expert on your field

Hi everyone. This week you have two different topics to write about. The first one is about a career-related website you have visited and the second one is about an expert on your field you think represents a real contribution.

According to my personal experience I would say that I haven't got just one favourite website. I´ve got plenty of them like those ones related to english teaching. They provide a lot of extra material which you can adapt and innovate. Almost all of them (of course) use digital technology which  is increasingly turning into a learning tool among others so specially language teachers may find on the web a variety of resources that will help them to continue bringing students into the broader world.

BLOG Session- POST 6

 I hope you enjoy this blog experience! Today you are going to write about society and family.

First, I would like to state that  the word "family" for me is a word that involves a lot in our society. It is a great and strong pillar, fundamental for our society.
This is my belief so far but this concept of traditional family has been changing a lot. If we compare old families and modern families they have many differences, for example, old families were bigger now families are smaller, with just three or four members even fewer. Also family customs have been deeply changed, for instance, old mothers stayed at home and brought her children up meanwhile her husbands went to work, whose jobs were the "bread and butter" of the family.

According to my point of view and own reflection modern times have brought positive things to our society. The access to technology, science, health and education have provided to people with a variety source of knowledge that has been an indispensable contribution to our world. Nowadays, people "know " more than before. Consequently, this new phenomenon has pros and cons.

I think we can take advantage of the good aspects of the past times and connect them with the positive of modern ones. It may be a solution to what sometimes might become stressful and overwhelming.

Blog session 4

Themed Post

Hi everyon
Today is a special session because you were in charge of choosing a topic to write about. You all agreed on writing about special days to us, so it is a great chance to think and reflect on that.

First, I would like to tell you that one of my favourite days of all is Christmas.
Christmas time is surrounded by a special spirit , I do not mean, exchanging presents and people everywhere buying things 24 hours a day. The origin of this celebration has to do with Christianity and a person who represents the symbols of love and humanity, Jesus Christ.

I think Christmas time brings a kind of peace and reconciliation to everyone, or course, thinking of those who believe in these values.

How do I celebrate it? with my family. We decorate our house with a Christmas tree and a lot of ornaments! I love that! . On Christmas'Eve we always share a delicious dinner and then, we exchange very simple presents like chocolate, messages, photographs, etc. After that, at midnight we hug each other and wait for Santa Claus!! (noo, just joking).

I love that Christmas time is near!!!

Blog Session 5- A photograph I like

I love photographs because they are visual images of powerful moments and each one is able to tell a story. Probably you have heard the old saying, “ A picture is worth a thousand words”. I think it is true. Moments happen all the time and they can happen fast, so capturing them is an amazing way to enjoy and re-lived some of the memories at anytime.

This photograph was taken by one of  my students at FAU in 2014. It shows me with

my students from Perú. They were from different cities (Cuzco, Lima, Tacna, Arequipa, etc) and they were doing a Master at Universidad de Chile. They really enjoyed the experience of living and studying in Chile.

Studying English was a challenging task for them, that is why this photograph is important and emotional because we were celebrating they had concluded successfully the course (after a 1-year period)!

Post 3: Your favourite piece of technology

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to this blog session!

Today we will be talking about our favourite piece of technology.

Technology has impacted  our lives in many ways, and technological advancement has made our life easier than ever, so it is rather difficult just to think of "one favourite..." .  

First, I would like to say that according to my own reflection, internet has been an amazing and revolutionary invention. It provides massive amount of information on different subjects. Today, students just press a button and they get all the desired results instantly while in the past (when I was a university student) they had to go to different libraries and spend hours searching for information. This is just an example among plenty of resources you may have access to.

Second, I cannot omit the laptop. I own mine for five years and I guess it is my favourite device! I use it for work and personal purposes. I prepare classes, create documents, do online activitities,  and watch news or read interesting articles . I use my laptop more frequently than any other electronic device I have except the cell phone. I use it almost every day, so it has become an unavoidable piece of technology!

Why did you choose this career/study programme?

Hello again everyone!

Today we have to think a little bit about the reason why we chose our careers. This question is all about getting to the heart of our motivation.

I guess you already know that the teaching career in Chile is not associated with  lots of money, so that was not my inspiration when I decided to pursue my career. I have been passionate about teaching from a tender age because I used to teach my younger siblings. They were very good students and I enjoyed helping them to do their school assignments! However, my parents were who influenced my decision, particularly, my dad who supported and contributed with his point of view, his ideas, his loving care …..to his ten children ( a real large family!!! and a extremely hard task for mum and dad).

I was so excited the first day I entered the university. I thougt I had my future in my hands. At the beginning was tough because I was away home and I started living on my own!

My years at the university were great. I spent many hours and studying and reading many books in English and Spanish. It was and amazing experience meeting new people, teachers and classmates but at the same time  it was stressful, demanding and time consuming. Sometimes I felt exhausted.

That is why when I graduated I celebrated for almost a year!!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG SESSIONS 2018

ENGLISH 3- BLOG POST 1

 I hope you enjoy this blog experience  this semester! Today you are going to write your autobiography.

My autobiography 

First, I would like to tell you that I was born and grew up in Santiago, so I have lived in this city for a long, long time, except five years that I lived in Concepción. I studied at Espiritu Santo Elementay School, Liceo de H. de La Florida and Liceo Experimental in Concepción. I have the best memories of those school days. After finishing high school I took the PAA  and I entered Universidad de Concepción to study Chemistry, but during the first year I realised that I was not good at numbers although science was one of my favourite subjects at school, so I started all over and I went to  Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and got a Bachelor´s degree in English.

I started working as an English teacher many years after that because I was offered a job that seemed very interesting for me and I worked there for many years. However, I always wanted to return to teaching and luckily I have done it since 2001. I have taught primary, secondary and university students. It has been a great experience! I enjoy facing the daily challenge of making students learn English. Sometimes, it is not an easy task but I love what I do! 

About my family, I have three children, one girl and two boys. I live with my husband and my youngest boy. In my free time, I like reading, going out with my family, riding a bicycle, gardening, listening to music and travelling!
